2x ARIA and 9x CMAA Golden Guitar winner Fanny Lumsden’s shows are one of a kind.
An all-in affair, where joy and exuberance meet intimate storytelling, delivered with wit, warmth &
luscious harmonies. Alongside her band The Prawn Stars, Fanny has “established herself as one of the
genre’s most esteemed performers” (The Australian), honing her craft in hundreds of halls on her
annual ‘Country Halls Tour’, all the way to her first UK show; a packed-out Avalon Stage at
Glastonbury.
In 2023, Fanny released her 4th studio album Hey Dawn which took out the ARIA for Best Country
Album presented by Dolly Parton, was nominated for the AMP (Mercury Prize equivalent), took out
the CMAA Golden Guitar for Alt Country Album of the Year (with 3 other nominations) and won Best
Independent Country Album at the AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Assoc). Hey Dawn
debuted at number 1 on the ARIA Australian Album charts and in the top 10 global ARIA charts, and
went on to hold the number 1 Australian Country spot for 5 weeks, being the 4th highest selling
country album for 2023.
Hey Dawn gained high praise including 4 stars in Rolling Stone Magazine and was claimed as being
“unique and timeless” (Capital News), a “triumph” (Women in Pop) and cemented Fanny as
“undoubtedly the brightest new country star of this era” (Capital News). Featuring standout tracks
including the “breathtaking” (Rolling Stone) opening track Hey Dawn, the country radio top ten and
CMT #1 hit Millionaire, and fast fan favourites When I Die and Ugly Flowers.
Having grown up on a sheep and cropping farm and spending most of her time touring regional
Australia in a caravan, Fanny’s songs are born of the red dirt, the snowy mountains, and all the people
in between. She’s a farmer, a volunteer firefighter, a highly acclaimed singer songwriter with her 2020
album Fallow also taking out the ARIA Award and the AIR Award for Country Album of the Year, and
5x CMAA Golden Guitars, including Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. Fallow was also
shortlisted for the prestigious Australian Music Prize Top 9 Australian Albums (2020) and topped
things off with an APRA award nomination for one of the Top 5 most played country songs in 2021 for
Dig.
An artist who is dedicated to playing live and connecting with audiences, Fanny has toured with the
likes of Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers and more, played major festivals such as Glastonbury, Port Fairy
Folk Festival, and the main stage at Byron Bay Bluesfest, amongst others. She has headlined multiple
sold-out theatre tours, played Americanafest in Nashville, and successfully undertaken 10 Country
Halls tours (250 + halls) where she takes her full band show to halls all over regional Australia and NZ.
Fanny and The Prawn Stars sold out their debut run in Scotland last July, which included a 3-week
headline tour through UK and Ireland, and they are set to return again this July. This summer will be
Fanny’s fourth UK and Ireland tour in two years.
The show is hilarious, inclusive and adventurous and don’t let the name fool you – it’s perfect for the
whole family!
